Winter Trails Day

January 7, 2014

As part of a National Winter Trails Day Promotion on
January 11, the Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority (IOHRA) invites all
cross country skiers to come out and join their administrator on a ski from
Negaunee to Ishpeming (and back).   The trail is approximately 2.5 miles
one way.  The group ski begins at 11 am at the Negaunee trailhead (across
from Negaunee Senior Center).

“This is an impromptu group ski event to get people outdoors after some
bitterly cold days and learn more about the Heritage Trail,” says Carol
Fulsher, administrator of the IOHRA.  “We want people to use the trail in
all seasons and this portion is open to cross country skiing in the
winter.  The trail is fairly flat so it’s an excellent trail for beginners
and for those who feel uncomfortable with big hills. We’ll ski to the
Brownstone Buildings in Ishpeming and turn and come back.”
