Trailhead #6: Jackson Miners’ Park

Jackson Miners’ Park, Negaunee @ West End of Main Street

Parking, More services available in downtown Negaunee including dining, shopping, restrooms, fuel.

Miles to Trailhead #5: 1.5 miles

Users:
This portion of the trail is paved and is intended for non-motorized use year round. A separate snowmobile trail/ATV trail is located to the south. This portion of trail runs through “Old Town” Negaunee and Ishpeming and travels past some of the earliest iron ore mining sites of the 1840’s.

Plans:
Trail was paved in 2008.

Miles to Trailhead #7: 4.4 miles

Services:
Section of trail runs through downtown Negaunee with variety of services

Users:
This portion of the trail will have separated andparallel non-motorized and motorized trails.

Plans:
Plans are to construct this portion of trail in 2012. Trail will be paved for approximately 1 mile through Negaunee. Surfacing east of Negaunee will consist of crushed gravel and/or limestone. This portion of trail runs past old mining sites and also parallels the Carp River for several miles. Wildlife viewing and fishing access will be available.
